"In Sickness and in Health:” When a Spouse or Partner has Cancer

HopeWell Staff

House Calls Speaker:  Karen Kayser, MSW, Ph.D.

Close relationships can be vital to cancer patients who cope with the myriad stressors that accompany diagnosis and treatment.  However, the spouses or partners from whom patients often seek support can experience as much distress as patients themselves.  Karen Kayser, Ph.D., the Koman Partnership Visiting Professor at the University of Maryland, will provide insights on the challenges of a cancer
diagnosis to a couple’s relationship. Based on her research with couples, Kayser will discuss ways in which couples can transform an otherwise painful experience into one in which each person grows through relationship with the other.  Please RSVP.
