A Day of Connection, Courage, and Hope at the Family Circle Youth Retreat

Laughter filled the air, superheroes made surprise appearances, and even a few goats helped make the day unforgettable at HopeWell Cancer Support's annual Family Circle Youth Retreat.

Designed for children and teens ages 5–17 who have a loved one affected by cancer, the retreat brought together nearly 20 young people for a full day of fun, learning, and meaningful connection. While each child arrived with a unique story, they quickly discovered something powerful: they were surrounded by others who understood what they were going through.

Throughout the day, participants explored a variety of engaging activities, including goat yoga, superhero visits, mask making, hands-on art projects, games, and the creation of personalized coping toolkits. These activities were carefully designed to help children express their emotions, build resilience, develop healthy coping skills, and create lasting friendships.

Most importantly, the retreat created a space where children could simply be children. They laughed together, learned together, and found comfort in knowing they are not alone on their family's cancer journey. The day was filled with moments of joy, encouragement, and hope—reminding every participant that support is available and that a caring community stands beside them.

At HopeWell, we believe that when families face cancer, children need support, too. The Family Circle Youth Retreat continues to be a meaningful opportunity for young people to connect, heal, grow, and discover strength in one another. It was truly a day of fun, friendship, resilience, and hope.
