Expressive Arts Guided by licensed clinicians who are knowledgeable and experienced in meeting the needs of those of us diagnosed with cancer, our Arts and Healing classes provide a safe space promoting healing and wellness for participants to use art as a tool to process their emotional, spiritual, and physical needs connected with a cancer diagnosis. You do not have to be an artist to join our classes; all are welcome. Working with and through various art mediums, you communicate, share your thoughts and insights, develop coping skills, and create connections with others in the classes. About Us Since 1993, HopeWell has been dedicated to the psychosocial support of people with cancer... any diagnosis, at any stage . .. in treatment, long-term survivorship, or facing the end of life. They, their families and friends are invited to join an inclusive community of people who share the common bond of cancer. Our community spirit, deep values, and comprehensive programs help participants develop their own, self-determined ways of coping and are conducive to inspiring hope. Our setting is a warm, inviting farmhouse and contemporary Amish-built barn on over eight acres of meadowland tucked conveniently near the junction of I-695 and I-83 on Falls Road just north of Baltimore City, located next to Meadowood Regional Park and across from Greenspring Station. At HopeWell We do not prescribe…we offer People come to us at every stage of the cancer experience, as do their loved ones. Our role is to meet you where you are, to invite you into a community that understands what you are going through. Our programs are developed to address the emotional, physical, intellectual, creative, spiritual and social aspects of living with cancer, and supporting each other in grief. They encourage an exchange of information, the development of a support system, and the presence of hope for all who enter our doors. HopeWell’s exceptional services are provided at no cost, and are staffed by experienced, credentialed professionals and instructors . Grief Support Bringing together those who have experienced the death of a loved one due to cancer, our groups for adults, teens, and children offer camaraderie, encouragement, and education, and fosters hope for families and individuals. By coming together, our participants support each other by acknowledging the death, providing a safe space to experience the various levels of pain that are rooted in death, sharing ways of how to adjust to the death, acknowledging each member's unique grief journey, and sharing resources. You can purchase additional drinks, but the kitchen will not be open for on-site food ordering. A table for 8 may be purchased for $800 and will be reserved with your name on the table. Movement & Exercise We all, by nature, are physical creatures, and often, cancer produces fatigue in our bodies. That is why HopeWell offers many programs that get us up onto our feet and moving, guided by professional instructors who are knowledgeable and experienced in meeting the needs of those with a cancer diagnosis. Whether it is Tai Chi, Qigong, Yoga, line dancing, or Strength & Tone, our instructors help to provide a sense of direction, purpose, community, and camaraderie. Our classes bring everyone together, regardless of skill level, and give everyone a safe place to improve and maintain their physical and emotional well-being.
